Extracurricular Activities

As mentioned above, the curriculum is intense and intellectually demanding. In the previous years, we have organised a variety of academic extra-curricular activities, such as visiting the European Patent Office, a visit of the Max-Planck-Institut for IP - and Competition Law, both situated in Munich, and visits to German law firms.

However, we appreciate that a summer school abroad should not consist of academic activities only. Therefore, we place great emphasis on offering our students a comprehensive introduction to their host country, in particular to Munich and beautiful surrounding areas. To that end, the Faculty of Law is cooperating with the International University Club Munich (IUCM), an institution that organises many summer programmes at Munich University. A full-time adviser will be available to participants for all issues regarding cultural and social events.

The IUCM will be offering a number of trips and guided tours to famous sites such as Neuschwanstein Castle and Salzburg. There may also be tickets available to see a performance at the 2012 Opera Festival in Munich.
There will be an opportunity to interact with both foreign and German students as well as with the other summer programme participants. As the academic year in Germany lasts until the end of July, the participants will be part of a busy and lively university community.
